Do You Know How Important Sales Negotiation Training Is For Your Business?

I recently taught sales negotiation training to a corporate client’s company.  They were seeking guidance in their procedure.  What I teach is how people can come into sales negotiations with a softer approach.

The intellectual goal of the company was win win but the energy they were giving off was aggressive, manipulative, and condescending.

The CEO was confident in his teams negotiation skills but felt that the previous training they had was out of step with the positive energy he wanted in the business.

People that these sales negotiators worked with could pick up on the negative energy they were giving off and it was making sales very difficult to close.

The CEO gave me a videotape of a negotiation so that I could see what was happening and the best way to change that. I saw that the words were correct but the body language was out of alignment.

Do you know how important sales negotiation training is for your business?
There were two people in particular that I wanted to work with.  One was a man and the other a woman.  I spoke with them individually and even though they had not spoken prior to the meeting they both said basically the same thing to me.  They felt undervalued, resentful and manipulated.  This was the energy drain people were picking up on.

These meetings were confidential so as I probed deeper I found that these two people were in a relationship which was prohibited by the company.

Together we worked on shifting their beliefs and activating new beliefs.  As they felt better about their positions and gained more confidence they requested the company policy on relationships be re-evaluated.

The policy was eliminated and this ended up with them having better results because they were extremely effective when they worked together.

Make sure that you:
•    Emit positive energy
•    Align your body language with your words
•    Shift the beliefs that are not working for you

Positive energy can be felt by people as well as negative.  Make sure that in negotiations you are in the right frame of mind otherwise people will pick up on that not only in your voice but in your body language.

Shift your beliefs from the ones that don’t work for you to ones that do.  Take baby steps in these shifts and you will start to see great results quickly.

    I agree it is easy to tell when someone is simply “phoning it in” sort of speak. People can really sense you don’t belief in what you’re doing, and without the proper attitude. Why would a customer want to believe in a salesmen, when that salesmen doesn’t believe in themselves from the start.

  8. Negotiating is a contact sport. To be effective you must be able to persuade others to listen to your arguments, consider the arguments, and decide that they want to help you in some way achieve your goals.
