Are You an Entrepreneur That is Ready to Face the New Year?

When it comes to celebrating and entering into the New Year, I’ve seen that there usually seem to be two camps of entrepreneurs.
There are those of you that are really excited about the New Year and all that it is going to bring. You have direction, you have plans in place, you’re excited about taking action.
You are in alignment with what you want and you have a strong belief that your goals are really going to happen this year.
And then there’s that other camp.
If you’re in that camp, you probably have what I like to call the Holiday Hangover (even if you don’t drink!)
In the past, before I started doing this work, I always had the Holiday Hangover!
The Holiday Hangover is basically when you’ve given yourself permission to just like not think about anything during the holidays. You’ve got total permission, you’re taking your time off, and you’ve basically checked out from everything that has to do anything with work.
Don’t get me wrong – it’s important to have a break and to be able to rejuvenate yourself! I take time off every year during the holidays to go visit my family in Michigan, and during that time I don’t do any work.
I feel like I really just got back into my office officially like, today. I haven’t even gotten the change to change my voicemail yet – so according to the message I’m still on vacation! It always takes a few days to get back into the swing of things.
But if you have that Holiday Hangover, it’s usually because you’re kind of just trying to keep the holidays going! You can usually get away with pushing it a few weeks into January yet, but sometime around the middle of the month, you’re going to get over that Holiday Hangover.
You’re going to wake up from it, and then you’re going to get into fear.
You’ll get to the point of feeling, “OK – I really can’t be partying anymore – I can’t be holidaying anymore. I can’t even say I’m sort of just getting my feet back under the desk anymore and getting back into the swing of things. It’s starting to get to that make or break point.”
If you’re an entrepreneur with a Holiday Hangover, you may be at the point in the New Year where you don’t feel like you have a solid plan in place. You may be buying into the whole economic bump and you may be unable to see how you’re going to be able to expand your business this year.
You may be at the point of just hoping your business doesn’t go under in the New Year!
If you’re feeling this way, what you need is to get grounded. You need to get some kind of traction – to be able to shift your energy in a way that will enable you as an entrepreneur to move over to that other camp and become a Spiritualpreneur that is ready to hit the ground running.
The best way to start with this is at a foundational energy level.
First of all, forgive yourself for anything that happened in 2008. Just really forgive yourself – unilaterally – it doesn’t matter what you did or what you said, what you didn’t do or what you didn’t say – you’ve got to start out with a clean slate.
Create some kind of ceremony or ritual around this – some kind of event that can be a true forgiveness experience for yourself.
- Write down all the things that you regret from the past year – your coulda shoulda wouldas – everything.
- Then, take that piece of paper and burn it, bury it, or rip it up!
- Do something that makes it very tangible to you that you’re releasing the previous year.
Once you’ve forgiven yourself, allow yourself to forgive or let go of anything anyone else has done to you in 2008.
This does not mean that you should condone people that have treated you poorly.
I’ve had business associates that have done things to hurt me that make me honestly wonder how they can sleep at night! I am not saying that you should be a doormat.
I actually tend to move away from the word forgiveness, because it sounds like, “No matter what you do to me I’ll just be OK with it.” – and that’s not what I’m getting at with this exercise.
So what I like to just say is, “I am going to let go of the negative energy attachment that I have when I am obsessing about how evil or mean or manipulative a person was to me.”
The things is, it’s totally justifiable that you would feel that anger and resentment and pain and betrayal when someone has hurt you.
But it’s not serving you.
So stop thinking that letting go of it is going to do any good to them. It’s not going to do any good to you.
You want to let go of it for yourself.
Because when you let go of the focus or the obsession or the coulda shoulda woulda or the how can they do this to me and the ranting and the raving, you can start taking that energy and focus on getting some traction and taking some action and attracting more of what you want.
When you hold on to past betrayals, you’re giving away your energy to that – as justifiable as it is – and it causes you to remain rooted in resentment and rooted in the past.
You have got to bring yourself to the present.
So again, do something ceremonial. Write it down on a piece of paper. As basic as this sounds – and I know you may be thinking, “How can writing something on a piece of paper do anything?”
But when you do something like this, you are energetically releasing this from yourself.
When you write it down on a piece of paper and hold the intention that you’re asking your highest guidance to release it from yourself, it’s done.
And doing this allows whatever needs to happen for you to heal begin to happen.
Whatever needs to happen for you as a Spiritualpreneur – the perfect book to fall from the sky, the perfect program to manifest, the perfect mentor to show up – whatever needs to happen to assist you – you have now become a vibrational match to it.
You can’t become a vibrational match to these things when you are in the attachment stage of the hurt and the betrayal and the regret or whatever!
So as you bring your business into the New Year, begin with moving forward from the past through this activation, which will allow you to get the traction that you need to be the successful Spiritualpreneur that you want to be.

I think it is very easy to fall into this root of a holiday hangover or even a weekend hangover for many people. Once we are away from work we try not to think about it at all, but when it comes time to go back to work, many people often find it hard to get re-focused. As an entrepreneur this can be very harmful to the long-term success of your company.
You’re so right Mark – it’s important to find the balance between always thinking about work and trying to avoid thoughts of it whenever possible!
That’s why I find focusing on what you want in your work and business to be helpful – it’s not a drag to think about, and it actually works in your favor to attract those exact perfect things to you!
