I was talking to a client the other day that had just begun applying one of the Energy Management tools to his own business called the Energy Blueprint.
He was telling me, “I went through looking at things that are serving me and things that are not serving me, and I didn’t even get to the second half of it, which is new beliefs and patterns!
“I was more moving through being aware and recognizing patterns that I have that don’t serve me with relationships with people to get the response that I want from them and stopping myself and saying, ‘Well, why did you say that? There must be a reason.’
“It was a matter of just noticing, just the ability to scrutinize behaviors or things that I’m saying and to stop and give thought to where they actually came from.”
I asked the client, “Well, how do you think that was that useful to you in starting to analyze that?”
He responded, “I think that it’s helping me establish new patterns just through the recognition. I think that part of it is that we grow up and we have all of this stuff that we become from our environment and not all of it necessarily serves us.
“Maybe it serves us then but it doesn’t necessarily serve us now and we carry it around. So it’s like virtual dumping if you will to make way for new things. That’s what I would say.”
Let me tell you, that client was pretty insightful on the value of doing this!
Whenever I do a new Energy Blueprint with clients, I usually suggest they do it on a quarterly basis. But I think there is also a real value in doing it even on a monthly basis to just look at the beliefs and patterns that are serving you.
You can break it down into business, money, relationships – any aspects that are physical.
I love putting things into charts and bullets and things like that. I come from corporate America and I really like these organized ways of seeing that I’m changing and shifting.
